Here is what we've been covering over at the Human Creator Alliance:
The landmark EU AI Act has (mostly) passed. This is a win for transparency in Generative AI. The EU AI Act is set to be the world's first comprehensive law regulating artificial intelligence. It aims to balance innovation and ethical use of AI, protecting fundamental rights and safety while fostering development.
Wide ranging interview interview with Adobe general counsel Dana Rao covers AI Ethics and more. In an interview with Nilay Patel on the Decoder podcast at The Verge, Adobe’s general counsel Dano Rao discusses AI Ethics, how Adobe is handling the AI copyright dilemma (spoiler alert: We at the HCA remain skeptical, but cautiously optimistic), and his views on how AI will impact jobs for creatives (spoiler alert: We remain even more skeptical). Also of interest is the failed Figma acquisition.
The Doomsday Clock is as close to midnight as ever — and now includes Generative AI as a risk factor. Humanity is the closest to global catastrophe we’ve ever been, according to The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, who have set their Doomsday Clock to 90 seconds to midnight for 2024 for the second year in a row. The Bulletin’s highly-regarded Science and Security Board called for urgent dialogue between world leaders (particularly from the U.S., China, and Russia) on the key global risk areas they identified: Climate change, Biosecurity, and Nuclear risk, and Artificial Intelligence.
